The Lockjaw trio

Named in honor of tenor saxophonist Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, the Lockjaw Trio is deeply rooted in the tradition of Sonny Rollins chord-less trios. Lockjaw features playful and creative arrangements of pop and rock groups like Nirvana, Burt Bacharach, and Led Zeppelin and blends these with thoughtful, original jazz compositions. This approach, executed by seasoned and forward-thinking musicians, sets them apart from most traditional jazz trios.

The Lockjaw Trio is comprised of MYSO Jazz Studies faculty members Jason Goldsmith (saxophones), John Simons (bass), and Chris Mell (drums).
