Be a part of the John Downey Creation Project

We invite MYSO’s budding composers to apply for the John Downey Creation Project!

How it works:

Here’s how it works:
  • MYSO teams up with new music organization Present Music and pairs you with a professional composer (teaching artist).
  • You’ll receive guidance and instruction from your teaching artist.
  • Your 3-5 minute finished piece is given a live world premiere performance by a MYSO ensemble.
  • Professional level score and parts will be produced by MYSO’s music librarian.

Requirements:

  • access to a computer music engraving program such as Finale or Sibelius
  • a statement describing:
    • what this opportunity would mean to you
    • your experience writing music and a sample, if you have one
    • your experience with composition software such as Finale or Sibelius
  • a $200 fee
