Katie Phillips joined the MYSO staff in 2011 after graduating from St. Olaf College with a degree in Music and Management Studies. Originally from Waukesha, WI, she was a trombonist in MYSO from 2001-2007 and studied with Dr. Noreen Harris-Baer and Megumi Kanda, principal trombonist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
Katie continued to study trombone at St. Olaf College where she developed an interest in arts management while working as an intern at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, the Vintage Band Festival in Northfield, Minnesota, and the Minnesota Opera. She also received a Collaborative Undergraduate Research grant from St. Olaf to study the economic and cultural effects that a music festival has on a community.
As MYSO’s Development Manager, Katie is dedicated and committed to her work at MYSO.
In addition, Katie serves on the board of directors at the Waukesha Choral Union and sits on the Membership Committee for the Young Non-Profit Professionals Network. She also continues to play trombone throughout the community.
