Julia Richter


Chamber Flute Ensemble & Flute Chorale Music Director

Julia Richter is an active freelance musician in the Milwaukee and Chicago area, regularly performing with many orchestras including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO), Chicago Opera Theater, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Grant Park Symphony Orchestra. She is a member of the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra and Elgin Symphony Orchestra, and has previously held one-year positions of Third Flute/Piccolo with the MSO and Flute/Piccolo with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra (renamed the Hawaii Symphony).

Ms. Richter held long-time adjunct faculty and flute instructor positions at Elgin Community College, Elgin Community College Conservatory, and the DePaul University Community Music Division. She is has been a flute section coach at MYSO and teaches general music and flute at the Wisconsin Conservatory.

Ms. Richter moved her family to Milwaukee from Chicago in 2015 when she received a one-year contract with the MSO, after substituting for them continuously since 2005. She resides in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood with her husband, Matt Cordier, and daughter, Netta.
