Amy Mikec is a bass trombone player and proud MYSO alumna. She attended Lawrence University and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in music education in 2004. Prior to working at MYSO, she has worked as a special education paraprofessional, an office manager, and an events manager/director at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts. MYSO has always been a passion for her, so much so, that she helped create the Allegro Association, MYSO’s alumni group, and remains involved in the group’s leadership.
During her time at MYSO she was fortunate enough to meet her now husband David who also played in the trombone section. They became friends on the 1997 Spain and Italy tour and stayed friends long after. They began dating in 2004 and were married in 2007. They have two amazing children, Jude and Molly, and a great pooch named Tristan. Amy still teaches privately and spends free time crafting, baking, and being with her family and friends.
