Amanda Brittain began playing the clarinet at the age of nine with the St. Bridget School band in Loves Park, IL. After moving to Wisconsin, she studied with Dan Roberdeau until she graduated from Germantown High School in 2011.
Subsequently, she graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts in clarinet performance in 2015, and summa cum laude with her Master of Music in clarinet performance in 2017, both from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), where she studied with principal clarinetist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Santa Fe Opera Todd Levy.
While at UWM, Ms. Brittain worked as the clarinet teaching assistant and librarian for the UWM Wind Ensemble, in addition to balancing principal clarinet positions with the UWM Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.
Amanda maintains a studio of private clarinet and saxophone students in Germantown and Milwaukee. She also is a co-founder and owner of Dream City Music, a classical and jazz musician booking agent bringing live music to weddings and other events (www.dreamcitymusic.org).
She continues to play in the Milwaukee area, with groups such as the Milwaukee Philharmonic, and the East Side Chamber Players, and is a substitute musician for several local symphonies.
Amanda joined the MYSO team in 2017 as the Music Librarian.
