MYSO Cellist Wins Spot in National Youth Orchestra
11 JULY 2013
Kartik Papatla, of Mequon, a cellist in MYSO’s Senior Symphony, is currently performing in the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, sponsored by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. The 120 young musicians, ages 16-19, arguably the best young orchestral musicians in the U.S., came together just last week, to form the first orchestra of its kind in the nation. Not only is Kartik the only young musician from Wisconsin to have been accepted into this highly prestigious program, he has been placed on the first stand of cellos in the orchestra, an enormous honor and testament to his exceptional artistry.
The orchestra makes its debut performance at Purchase College, New York, where they have spent a two-week residency. Upcoming appearances include performances in St. Petersburg and London, and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
The entire MYSO family is incredibly proud of Kartik!
