School Music Teachers and Private Teachers

The heart of the MYSO program has always been the fine training and teaching available to students in the Milwaukee area by school band directors, orchestra directors, and private studio musicians. 

Excellent school music programs in combination with superior private instruction have been absolutely critical to the success of MYSO; without them -- and without your support and recommendations -- we simply could not provide the same successful environment.

Attend our MYSO concerts with two complimentary tickets to each performance. Please contact our Program Coordinator to reserve your tickets.

Student Auditions

We hope you will let your students know about us and about our auditions. If students or their parents want to take a look at our program, please direct them to our website.

MYSO's spring audition schedule allows students to be heard at a time when they are most involved with their instrumental music programs and when they likely have solos prepared and are practicing regularly.

In January/early February, you will receive a letter by mail encouraging you to recommend students for MYSO auditions.  We rely heavily on your recommendations in building our audition mailing list.  If it's more convenient, you can email the requested information to the Program Coordinator, or download and complete the online recommendation form in the "Recommend Students" section.

Private Teachers

Because finding a private teacher is such a personal journey, we always encourage families to explore as many options as possible, ask other families with students who play the same instrument, talk to their band/orchestra directors, consider setting up a trial lesson, etc.

Students who would like to receive a list of area private teachers should email the Program Coordinator.   Please be sure to tell us your instrument. We try to keep these lists as up to date as possible.  However, with so many instructors available in the area, it is difficult for us to keep track of all of their information. 

If you would like to be included on MYSO's private teacher lists, please send your name, address, phone number, email address, and any other pertinent information to the Program Coordinator. 

We will distribute your address to interested families only if you indicate that that is acceptable to you.  We will use your address to send you information about MYSO, our season calendar, offers of complimentary tickets, etc.
